Trevor and Pam Birtle

Trevor is the Chair of Trustees and Pam is integrally involved in guiding the strategy at Parent and Child Together North East

Trevor is the Chair of Trustees for Parent and Child Together North East and has formerly been both an Industrial Chemist and a Psychotherapist

Pam is now integrally involved in guiding the strategy at Parent and Child Together North East.  She is still a registered Social Worker. She recently retired as the CEO of Cornerstone UK, a Christian Adoption and Fostering Service.

Trevor’s career started as an Industrial Chemist, but he responded to a vocational calling in his 40s and retrained as a Psychotherapist. In addition to managing a thriving therapeutic practice, he was also (along with Pam) a Co-founder of Cornerstone, a Christian Adoption and Fostering Service and was part of the establishment of Safe Families in the UK. He is also an Assistant Pastor at his local church.

Pam identifies her entire life story as being a progression towards exactly the sort of role she is performing now through her engagement in Parent and Child Together North East. Her passion for working with Looked After Children has arisen directly from her own personal experience as a Looked After Child and a teenage parent. She was, at one time, the youngest qualified Social Worker in Britain and has worked professionally in social care since 1976.

Trevor and Pam share a Christian faith which has inspired and sustained the work they have done.

They have also raised seven birth, adopted and fostered children, fostered others short term and reconnected with Pam’s birth son, adopted as an infant.
